A dream (or nightmare) of AI generated images haunted me for many a night over the past 12months... The rise and rise of AI as an acceptable art form disturbs me- Where is the humanity in this endeavour, where is the soul-to-soul connection...? Where is the visible hand of the artist? My response is to generate by hand Art which is flawed and not perfect-just like me....
The random nature of the ink backfill is a result of stream of consciousness 'tangling'- letting the mind of the Artist range freely... The faces are deliberately mis-coloured, not logical... Definitely not machine generated. The frame is a repurposed frame from a distant time when craftspeople produced objects by hand. I am not a machine - I am a person!
Medium-Coloured archival pencil and archival ink pen on Cotton paper and in found object timber frame.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tasmanian born and bred, in the 1960’s- with a strong artistic heritage, Anita is self- taught in sculpture and painting. Whilst she has participated in a local drawing and life drawing groups- her practice is solo and she draws inspiration from her life as a nurse and her love of the sea to inform her eye for shape and form.
Anita's materials of choice are often reclaimed, recycled and repurposed - the 'stone the builders discarded' becomes a thing of beauty.
Never a conformist, Anita pushes the creative boundaries where she can, whilst paying homage to many 'artistic greats'- creating art which “moves viewers."
A strong social comment typifies Anita's works-to encourage her viewers to look beyond the art and see/read the comment, whether that be climate change, social interactions or simply a plea to slow down and refocus life on the world around.
