Meditative Rose, After Dali MMXXVI

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am an Artist from NSW, Australia. I love to paint landscapes and seascapes… sometimes I call them ‘Dreamscapes’.

Dalí was the King of Surrealism. This painting is my tribute to him. It is a dream of mine to have my work in a gallery alongside his work. I hope that those who look upon my ‘Meditative Rose, After Dali’ will feel as though they are looking into a dream state of both Dali and I.

ABOUT THE PIECE

For many years, I have been obsessed by Dali’s painting, Meditative Rose. I created this painting as closely as possible to the dimensions of Dalí’s original work. I placed the rose within a world distinctly my own: an endless sea, a stormy sky and constellations representing Dalí and Gala. The eye and tear are my own, within the eye I painted their Castle. My signature on this painting inspired by one of my favourite works in the Dada Muse Gallery: a cast of Dalí’s hand bearing his signature like a royal emblem.
