This etching of an original drawing is a scare Salvador Dalí artwork.
Dalí created many artworks in homage to Miguel de Cervante’s story, Don Quixote de la Mancha. This Spanish novel was originally published in two parts in 1605 and 1615. It tells the adventures of Alonso Quijano, a member of the lowest sector of society, that lives his life in fantasy. Obsessed with romance, Quijano seeks to become a knight to serve his nation with chivalry and names himself Don Quixote de la Mancha.
Dalí felt a connection to the Don Quixote story due to its connections to his own cultural heritage in Spain.
