Armando Posse ( 1917 - 2005 ) was a Cuban artist specialising in the making woodcut prints on paper.
Woodcutting is one of the oldest forms of print making. As with other forms of 'relief printing': an image is first carved into a woodblock, inked with a roller, and pressed firmly against a desired surface. As only the highest plain of the woodblock (areas otherwise uncarved) are touched with ink, the carved negative space is left clean.
