Salvador Dali
Five Continents
1966
Dali created this work as a gift for the United Nations naming it 'Five Continents'. The UN described this artwork to be the "helping hands" of the three branches supporting the two flowering hands above them. However, the work can also be interpreted to be controlling and abusive. If so, Dali has commented on the controlling nature of the worlds imperialist nations and how they limit the other continents.
