2024 2D Surrealist Art & Poetry Prize, Winner
I was inspired by Dali and Magritte in my early college years, and am drawn to putting a twist in my artwork, whether it be a painting or sculpture, whether it be whimsical or dark. I like the viewer to think outside of the box, and make them smile. I have a passion for painting wildlife, but not always in a natural setting. That's my quirky side.
My entry "It's a Matter of Time" is all about the split second before chaos unfolds, frozen as in a dream. The rabbit being the only one aware, making a quick exit on the right. It has elements from Alice in Wonderland, a favorite book of mine as a child(still is), and my love of chess sets, which feature a lot in my work.
